Can a drooping palm tree be saved?

I live near Barcelona, and in my yard, I have what seems to be a Canary Island date palm. It is about 7 meters tall, and had been healthy until my neighbor recently, as winter was approaching, very aggressively-- and without ever having complained to me about the tree-- cut all of the fronds that entered into his yard. The tree has responded badly. It is drooping more and more, and the new fronds are extremely limp and somewhat brownish, though not completely dried up.
Is there anything I can do to revive or save this tree? Any input would be greatly appreciated.
