Can a corrupt file/virus cause every flash drive that stores it to become

unrecognizable? We have for the second time now lost data on a flash drive . Windows does not even recognize the 2 thumb drives at all. The first one was thought to have been destroyed by a toddler putting it in his mouth. But the second was never near the child. Similar data on both. Office files and downloaded music.

it is very possible that a virus could be the issue here, most likely in the downloaded music, i have seen it where an mp3 file is not really an mp3 but a virus with the mp3 file extension, the best way to avoid this is to check the file size of the mp3 file when you download it and make sure its 3000 ish kb or above. now getting it to recognize, i would go into disk management (control panel, administrative tools, computer management, then choose disk management) you will be able to see the devices in there and format them or partition them properly.
