Can a corpus luteum cyst cause a false positive pregnancy test result?

I'm in the process of trying to figure out if I could be pregnant or not. I have PCOS but within the last 5 months my periods have been regular. I have not gotten my period this month and have cramping and increased breast soreness. I took a home pregnancy test which came back positive, but have since learned that a few kinds of cysts can give a false positive reading. I'm just wondering how likely this is, and if there comes a point where the cyst stops releasing the pregnancy hormone, or will each test I take continue to come up positive? I plan to see my doctor but that's a week away.

Thanks for any help.
