Can a cellphone cause nerve damage?

I recently got a new phone and now the area on my leg it comes into contact with while it's in my pocket has become numb. I've had my new LG (AT&T) phone for about two weeks.
I first noticed the numbness about four days ago after riding my bike.
I believe it's affecting the superficial pain receptors in a patch on my upper thigh to just below the hip, because I can still feel pressure and temperature, but if I pinch or scratch the area, it feels numb on the surface.
I keep my phone on vibrate, with the touch screen facing toward my leg. It's not in there 100% of the day, sometimes it is in the front pocket of my hoodie, and I take it out of my pocket when I get home.

It may or may not be related to my new cell phone, but the fact that it is the same area where my phone sits in my pocket five days a week is suspicious.

I'm leaving the country for spring break in a few days, so I'm hoping it's nothing serious that I would have to go to the doctor for.

Please no "i dunno" or "go ask a docturr" responses (unless, of course, you have an educated reason why I should definitely go see my doctor).
