I just had my car fixed in the last couple weeks and I had a small car fire yesterday. My ex replaced my alternator first, the car ran fine but than began overheating, the water pump needed replacing so he fixed that, after installling the water pump there was no power in the car so I called a mechanic who told me the main fuse was blown? He replaced that and the car was running fine for the last week, when yesterday after getting home from taking my children to the movies the car caught on fire. It hapened a few minutes after the car was turned off. The fire was localized to the area where all of the repairs were made. There was smoke for like 10 minutes although we did see flames under the hood for a few minutes. By the time the fire department arrived the fire was already completely out (all on it's own). Does anyone have any idea what could have caused this and if it is repairable? Also How much it might cost to have it fixed?
