I have a 1989 dodge pickup. It is a 4x4 with a 318 engine and and 727 transmission. Recently the transmission has developed a leak (probably from the front seal) and reverse no longer works. I was considering scrapping the truck when I found an A518 transmission that is very cheap. A company called PATC makes a kit to control the overdrive so that the A518 can be used in vehicles that originally had a 727, but can I take the cone off the A518 and bolt my transfer case to it?
Can a 727 transmission from a 1989 dodge 4x4 be replaced with an A518 from a 1990 2wd?
