Can a 6 Disc CD changer from a 2005 Mercury Mariner fit into a 2001 Ford Escape?

Just replaced the 6 Disc changer from the 2005 Mercury Mariner. Can it fit in the 2001 Ford Escape? Didn't know if it would be a simple replace, or if the sizing would be off.
