Can a 2002 Ford Explorer Sport (2 door) tow a Sea Ray 175?

I have a 2002 Ford Explorer Sport (2 door - not the Sport Trac). It's RWD, 6 cylinder, automatic. Would I safely be able to haul a Sea Ray 175. It's dry weight is 2100 lbs not including trailer. Anyone with experience both with this vehicle and boating - would I have any difficulty either dropping the boat off the launch or getting the boat+trailer up the ramp?

I believe my car is rated to tow approx. 5000 lbs... I just want to know if it would be safe.

Your Explorer will tow the weight fine and safely . Make sure your ball mount is at a height that has the boat trailer as level as possible . You can look up trailerlife.com or boating.com for a few tips to be sure you no whats going on .

it will pull it. need to be careful stopping. the problem is the length of the explorer and the boat/ trailer. the longer boat and trailer will "push" the rear of the explorer side to side and can lead to a jack-knife in some conditions. be careful towing and all should be ok.
