it fails? I am looking into buying a 1986 Toyota Supra with 118K miles for a very good price. It has a rebuilt engine and everything else seems to check out. But I'm not 100% on the transmission. I mean, I am now... but if the car's otherwise fine in 30K miles and the transmission goes, I'm replacing the transmission, not the car. Since the automatic transmission seems to be the weakest thing in the car, I'd like to know if I can plan on replacing it with a better automatic, maybe a 5 speed? Or a transmission that gets better gas mileage(that doesn't really matter, but while I'm there)...
I'm not familiar with this sort of thing, so I'm not sure what my options are outside of replacing the transmission with the exact same transmission. Any info welcome, thanks!
