Can 90km\h winds knock out power?

We are on a severe weather warning out for alot of rain and gale force winds to 90km\h and possibly over.
They also said severe wind gust what does that mean?
Also can it knock out power?

90km/h might break some older wooden poles if it is an unusual wind speed for your area, but if the wind has been known to get that strong before the chances are not high. Most of the broken poles we have seen are from wind speeds in excess of 150 km/h... the wind will take out sometimes a dozen poles in a row like dominos falling sideways. The longest stretch I have heard of was 21 poles.

gust means sudden burst of winds i believe and the wind can knock down power lines
