cams or RB LSR ?

say, since ya'll got more exprience at this than me, can you tell me what you think about either getting HD cams installed, or getting an RB LSR 2:1?

based on your experience, do you *think*
- one would get more bark than the other
- one would give more torque than the other
- one would be noticeably harder on my engine than the other

Here's what I got: 2009 Road King FLHR, stock engine, Heavy Breather a/c, stock headers, rinehart slip-ons, stock EFI tuned with TTS Mastertune.

The cam work I'm considering would not be radical. I want low to mid torque, gear driven, requiring no extra mods like bore etc. HD cams if they fit the description. The current rig performs great! That's my priority. I just want it louder, and I wouldn't mind a bit more torque. Looks are a dead last consideration.

It's a really long story. I'll tell ya if ya ask. and I know the odds are really good there's no hard data to say it's definitely this or that. But on average, 3 out of 5 experienced riders get it right, so that's what I'm hoping for.

Thanks in advance for any input.

I agree. The stock headpipe actually works quite well. I noticed a substantial difference in power and the exhaust barks a lot more at all throttle openings compared to the stock cams.

I would go for the 2 into 1 pipes. Much easier to install than cams and the bark is there for sure. You need a better free flowing exhaust system anyway to maximize your horsepower when you finally go with the gear driven cams. I was going to get my heads flowed at one point but I put on a set of RB Racing LSR 2 into 1 exhaust pipes and I felt that the gain in horsepower was enough that I really didn

I ran a LSR on my last bike and loved it. I had over 75,000 miles on it with zero problems. Best pipe I ever had. The billet exhaust gaskets are the best i have seen. If you go for the pipe don't waste any time ordering it. They take some time to get to your door.

OK, so I got good input from ya'll.

So now I have TW6-6 cams installed and they are frickin' awesome. I did some VTune runs and got good numbers. Several months later I took it to thedynodifference.com, they got just a tad more umph, but a whole lot smoother ride. Heck, I'm getting 102 ft-lbs - and that's with stock headers (and Rino slip-ons).

Now I'm waiting on RB LSR 2:1. I ordered the damn thing back in 4/4/2010. It is now 9/1/2010. If I didn't already have a great ride, I'd be pissed at the wait time. I called to cancel and just get me some V&H Big Shots. Well, it seems my LSR was being coated (or whatever the story was), so I decided to give them just a bit more time.

With any luck, I'll have the RB LSR installed and dyno'ed by holloween. Make a few scary noises of my own. I'll keep you posted.

Thanks again for steering me straight.

In a word...no!
All S-E cams are chain driven.
There are compatible GD cams by aftermarket venders though.
Just do some research/comparison and you should get what you are looking for.
