Camera + Poor College Student = Help?

So I recently have become interested in photography and was wondering what type of camera could take amazing pictures but fall under a poor college students budget? I have an older camera now and the pictures result in a resolutionless mess.

Also what are your thoughts on the Diana Dreamer camera? I was thinking of purchasing one just for fun!
