Ok, so I've been saving for some camera equipment. I'm looking to get a tripod, some flashes, flash stands, and a decent backpack to hold it all, and maybe radio transmitters for the flashes. I have about 500 bucks, but i could probably push it to 6. Any reccomendations, like brands of models or things like that. like if you had that money to spend on the aforementioned equipment, what would you buy?

thanks a lot!!

A pair of Pocket Wizards - $169.99 each
Tripod - one that will hold at least 3.5 kg. - $250 plus head
Light stands - $50 to $150 each (you will want some sandbags as well)
Middle line external EF (Electronic Flash) - $220 each
Flash meter so you can set the lighting ratios - $200 to $500
Tamrac or Think Tank backpack for cameras and accessories - $90 to $300

And you may want to consider some:
Background stands - Savage makes them - $125 with carrying case

As you can see, you will have to build this lighting system a little at a time if you really want or need flash.

Here is what I use both while on assignment and in the studio:

Two Lowel tota-lights with umbrellas and stands (incandescent so I don't need Pocket Wizards or flash meter) - $220
Savage background stands with carrying case - $125
Full Size Bogen Tripod w/ Quick Release 3-Way Head - $120
One generic duffel bag for lights, umbrellas and extension cords - $35
One generic backpack for camera gear - $40.
