now it is a middle price range bike, so i dont think it is because it is cheap. my exercise bike counts calories burned way too fast. for example, it goes up from 2.3 to 2.5 to 2.7 to 2.9 in a few seconds and i can be pedaling very slow. normally at the gym it takes forever to burn a few calories on an exercise bike, why is it going so fast?

Mine does the same thing. It's not very high tech and just jumps calories based on how long you are pedaling and not the intensity. There is a website where you can type in the amount of time you exercised on a bike and the intensity and it calculates the correct amount of calories for you. Unfortunately, I don't know the website at the top of my head!
