Okay, in class we read Wjitman's "o captain, o captain" an extened metaphor about Lincoln and a ship, and now we have to compare a significant event in history with something. The poem is supposed to be an extended metaphor, it should have rhyme scheme, and be a substantial length. She said no "jokey" poems, so it has to be deep, and I'm fresh out of ideas.
So.... if you could leave an idea and maybe start the poem, it would be appreciated!!!
Oh and this is for a 9th grade English honors class, so it needs to be deep, and make you think a little.
THANKS SO MUCH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
