I picked up the phone, dialed the pharmacy and then hung up. I didnt call in my refill of hydrocodone. I'm finishing up day 14 and I am determined not to start this all over again.

Unfortunately, I have some back issues that the gabapentin is NOT taking care of and I am at a loss on what to do. I use lidocaine patches (when I remeraber) and they work a little bit, but not enough to make a big difference.

More to the point though......I didn't follow through with getting a refill that is due on my pain meRAB. I have an appt on Tues with the doc to discuss my antidepressants and I think I will talk to her about some non-narcotic options for pain relief. I'm not going to tell her about the addiction part because that will be in my recorRAB forever and when I do need the relief I am afraid that I won't get be able to get it.

Anyhow, here's to day 15!!

Magpie, congratulations and I hope to be in your position soon! (Well, I mean on Day 14, not calling the pharmacy, hee hee). Actually, I don't have any refills because mine is a Schedule 1 narcotic. I feel exactly the same way about telling my pain management doctor too much. I've told him before that I was trying to taper, but I did not tell him about my previous addiction history, nor did I ask him not to give me more if I asked for it. So when I said I went off the taper because the pain was too bad (uh, plus I couldn't function), he just gave me my normal dose again. I am erabarrassed and do not want him to view me as a junkie.

Magpie --I would give my left arm to be where you are right now. Please do not screw that up. You have the correct direction in place--See Dr and find a NON-Narcotic way to help with your pain. If my not be an instant fix, but it will be the one that will keep you away from where I am RIGHT NOW and I wouldnt wish this on my worst enemy. DO NOT get the refill until you talk to your DR. please

Magpie-

Have you thought of trying to find an addictionologist? They are skilled at treating chronic pain as well as addiction issues. It may be worth looking into. You may be able to get help with your pain issues as well as your addiction issues sweetie.

Good Luck, and take care. It's not an easy road, but you can do it!!
