Call forwarding not working... No solutions from tech support

I am trying to turn on call forwarding for my cricket phone, but it is telling me that This Feature Is Currently Not Available. I have tried using *72281xxxxxxx and *74281xxxxxxx and both give same error. I have called cricket tech support 3 times now, each time time they refresh my account and have me do *228. Still not working. Now they are telling me that I need to goto a corp store to have them check my phone. Problem is, the nearest store is about an hour away...

My cricket nuraber is a Houston area code "281". The nuraber I am trying to forward to is also a Houston area code "281". Currently, I am in Austin "512 area code" and it is not working. I am not on roaming either. Do you think there is something wrong with my phone/account or do I need to do the call forwarding thing from the Houston area?

It appears all possible over the phone solutions have been addressed and any additional insights and diagnosis would be recommended by visiting a full service Cricket corporate store location. Before doing so please try once again when you return to Houston. Call forwarding allows Cricket customers to send all of their incoming calls to another landline or wireless nuraber within their local exchange (area code/prefix) and being outside the area may not allow activation.
