Hmm... shame it's only on DVD and not HD-DVD or BluRay. Nice to see the film without a layer of dirt all over it though :)

This is the 156 minute version by the looks of things :( I know that there are loaRAB of different cuts out there, but I must say that I think the 'unauthorized' 200 minute version is still the best - yes, it's extra graphic, but it adRAB to the sense of debauchery and excess IMHO.
 
Hopefully the pre release cut is the Cannes cut which was thought to have been lost all these years.Im sure it will be 3 differnt versions.A commentary on each version.
 
Well i got it today and there is indeed 3 different versions.The 3rd not being advertised anywhere but it is a 95 minute version for the commentary for it only lasts that running time.Great picture .Great sound.Hours and hours of deleted and alternate takes and scenes.HundreRAB of never before seen photos.LoaRAB of DVDROM stuff.Well worth it.
 
Lol no but it was announced nearly 2 months ago there would be no cd.However it will be released when they get the correct license for it,the 1 they had was only for limited use.
 
I loved listenin to Malcolms commentary and from what ive heard of Helens its really cool and she seems really cool.Not someone id expect to be in a film like this or want to talk about it.
 
Gah! Typical! I'm broke at the minute; might sell some of my crap on eBay and get some cash together for this one :) I know ironjade hates it, but I think it's great :D
 
Well so far you've been on this thread three times, and slagged it off three times. We understand that you don't like it - you don't need to tell us again. But other contributors, who do appreciate the film, are making interesting comments. Why not leave it alone if you don't like it - you're getting to be like one of those annoying Man Utd fans who logs onto every other football team forums and basically posts "Your team is crap" over and over again. Why not contribute to another thread - you might even find something that you like. :(
 
Theres something fascinating about the film,i dont know what it is.I dont think its something id watch over and over again.Inside the collectors book mentions the various versions of the film in Italy under the title Lo Caligola.They didnt have permission to use any footage from it as its not permitted to be viewed outside Italy.
So theres alternate footage on that version and i believe the old UK VHS versions.
They basically say without spelling it out that there are other versions of the film out there and unseen footage its just a case of finding it and being able to get permission to show it and that there will definately be more releases in the future.But at the moment this is the most complete and best package your gonna get.

Also for those that have read some review sites claiming to have early reviews of it,all of the hardcore porn is included on the unrated one.Its a high definition transfer apparantly.The pre release version isnt the R rated or UK 18 rated version.It is an actual pre release which was found along with boxes of outtakes and is one of the first versions of the film to be cut. This is the one used for 2 of the commentarys.Also all deleted and extended scenes and the outtakes seem to have their picture and sound restored too and they are presented in widescreen.
 
What are you on about? Helen Mirren has done dozens of sexy films, its what she's known for! and believe me she is always quite happy to talk about it! in most of the interviews ive seen her in she asks the interviewer if they wanna go to a nudist beach with her!
 
I dont think Helen Mirren has apeared in any other movies that feature hardcore sex scenes that make the film illegal in the UK unless sold in a sex shop :rolleyes:
