California speeding ticket, officer lied about speed limit to cut me a break,...

...could I get the case dropped? A few days ago, I was pulled over on a backroad on the way to the beach... I did not notice any speed limit signs before getting pulled over, but plan to go back and check. Anyways he came at me from the opposite direction and apparently clocked me going 63 in a 45. I gave him all my information and when he came back to my car, he told me he'd cut me a break and say the speed limit was 55 instead of 45. Would this be enough to plead not guilty in California traffic court on the grounds that the officer lied about the actual speed limit, therefore making the ticket invalid, or would I just be screwing myself even more by admitting to going 18 miles over versus 8?
