I'm supposed to be writing a lesson plan for a middle school/jr. high class (approximately 8th grade). My assignment was to write a lesson plan explaining the history of calculus, including it's implications on modern math. I've never taken calculus, so I just tried to touch on as many topics as I could. However, now I found out I'm supposed to just focus on a few topics, and go into more depth.
Can anyone help point me in the right direction with the most important topics, and how their implications on calculus and math today? I'd really appreciate some help! Thanks!

Try browsing thro'
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/calculus
You could examine the history, the mathematicians etc. around this website. Then you choose the topic you think would be interesting as well as useful to the students in the class(age group and grade), and expand.
Good luck.
