Cadillac 2002 Deville DTS help?

Brought my car into an auto store, and it's been diagnosed as a 'System too lean Bank 1'. They told me that it's a bad O2 sensor. I don't know much about cars, but the Service Engine Soon light came on about 2 weeks ago. And now within the past week, I've been hearing a sort of 'humming noise'. When I accelerate, I hear an acceleration noise, however it sounds about 2 pitches higher than normal. After I let off the gas, it still sounds like I'm pushing on the pedal, and it takes a while for the sound to get quieter. I can be going uphill or downhill, either way, the quicker I go, the louder this sound gets. This is my biggest concern, because I'm not sure that this is a cause of a bad O2 sensor. I have noticed some slightly rough idling, it's not terrible, and I have noticed that it takes the acceleration a few seconds to catch up with me pushing down on the pedal. Any idea of what this sound may be? Is it from the O2 sensor? Or is the O2 sensor even likely to be bad?

Any thoughts (someone who's had this before, or who's heard of this) would be nice to hear, I live in Hawaii and I know the cost of taking the car to the Cadillac dealer will be expensive as heck, which is why I'm trying to avoid it! Or even if I do have to take it in, I want to make sure my car is safe to drive to the other side of the island, up and down mountains. Thank you!
