So here it is, many have asked for it, I have recieved over 100 PM's over this. So here goes!

Disclaimer: Niether I, nor HowardForums is resposible for damage to your device resulting from the use of this guide. This will not work on all Treos. The end result may be you needing a cable anyways. Diferent People have had diferent results. If you need a Treo flashed, try this before purchasing a cable. Please post your results here along with your Firmware Version, and Branding (Verizon, Sprint, etc.).

So here is what can happen, several diferent senarios.

1.) Useing my method you can get working web, text, and voice on your Treo without a cable.

2.) You can use this to get web working on a Sprint 700WX, end result may be that you need a cable.

3.) Your phone gets stuck roaming on VZW. You have two options, try the *228XX codes, or get a cable.

What will this method do for you? Change your PRL to the 5504 Roaming PRL, change your MSL to "333333", and program your NAM, and Data Provisioning to my settings.

Here is how to do it.

Download the file here:

http://techguy40.250free.com/Custom_nv.zip

First we will create a backup of your devices current config.

1.) You need to copy the files to a folder on the Treo, or SD card. Name it however you like.

2.) Run the CDMAFirmwareUpdater program. DO NOT HIT UPDATE YET!

3.) Press the left softkey, a list of options will pop up. Check "Back Up NV", and select your carrier, make sure that those two items are the only things checked.

4.) Hit update, and wait a few minutes. We are now backing up all of your settings.

5.) Navigate to the root of the phones file system, and find "NVBackup.dat". Save it somewhere safe. This is the backup that we just created.

Now to flash my Backup, and hopefully your phone.

1.) Copy my "NVBackup.dat" to the root of your phone, overwriting the backup we just created.

2.) Open the program, and hit the left softkey again. This time Select "Sprint" and "NV Restore".

3.) Hit Update, and wait it out.

4.) Reset your device when it completes, and try a *228, or dialing 611.

Now to set up the Data side of the phone.

1.) Hit ##DATA# for Sprint (VZW Code is diferent).

2.) Replace [email protected] with [email protected], password is "cricket". The Subsidy code is "333333".

3.) Find the XV6700 Wap settings to finish the data setup.

Thats it, your done. This has worked on 9 out of 12 Sprint 700WX's I have flashed.

Please post your results!

If you need a cable, I have two available at $50 shipped each.

Good Luck!

it's not the only way...i have a copy of cdma updater with cricket prl and you cn use that to update it...pm me with your email address and i'll send it to you with instructions...remind me of what i am sending and to include instructions, when you msg me...

use the 700p cableless flash method...or more simply just use cdma updater to load the cricket prl and then edit nam1 and wap settings from your device...if you search, there are links...if you try and post your results...i will link you...pm me for the cdma updater with cricket prl...and then edit nam with ##MSL# or #*#MSL#(after edit nam with MDN & MIN do *228 )...edit wap by going to prefs- network- menu- viewlog- type "?" and press enter- type "pdpset 1" and press enter- now back to prefs- network- menu- new connection- set high speed wireless- username = "[email protected]"- password = "cricket"(lower case)- details- uncheck "mobile ip"- advanced check both auto ip and query dns- ok- ok connect...

well, it set mine to roaming on verizon.
*22804 gave me a verizon ota prompt.

I'm first going to attempt to change the nam programming to the correct SID for verizon's native network and try a *22804 again, if that doesnt work, i'll try writing my backup back to it under generic

Ok. i wrote my backup back to it, now *22804 gets me a cricket OTA prompt, but it cannot program.
The MSL doesnt appear to be 000000 still... or 333333

if you had gotten this far you were good as you could have programed the nam settings yourself...that is really all that OTA does for you...

And whats even weirder, when I try to OTA using *22804, for a split second, i get on cricket's network, because pending text and vm's came thru, but it goes back to verizon again.

I dont suppose theres an updater out there with cricket's evdo prl, since I can take advantage of that...

Ok. If anyone is having the same issue as i have on the 700w.(got put on a weird verizon prl, cant OTA it even with *22804)

Go to nam programming #*#000000-send on verizon. Change your MSN and MDN to 000000xxxx (the last 4 are random, non zero nurabers)
Then change your system ID to your correct FIVE DIGIT (leading 0) system ID. If you dont know your correct system ID, then look it up in the link in the faq.
Then try to *22804 it again.

My OTA was successful after I did this, and I was able to reproduce it several more times to be sure.
