Just installed new cobra short pipes and am having trouble with the bike backfiring on deceleration. Anyone know how I can fix this problem.

Thanks

Paul

Disable or remove you pair valve. If that doesnt work you are going to need a powercommander or similar device. Check the torque on the head bolts. 17in/lbs is the spec. Did you use new gaskets?

Do you have a powercommander?....If so I have a map that WILL FIX the popping/backfiring as long as all of your other things are in order....meaning NO exhaust leaks.

I am running cobra speedster slashdown pipes on mine. If you get a powercommander let me know and I will email you the MAP I am running. None of the standard maps are 100% perfect. It took me a few hundered miles, and the help of another C90 rider, but I got my bike running PERFECTLY with NO backfiring.

hi not to highjack this thread but. I just got my c90 and it also has the cobra pipes and supposedly the powercommander and it still backfires. any help would also be great. i do not know if the pair valve is removed or not.

Do you have naked jugs on the right side of the bike??? Metal lines coming out of you right side pair valve cover??? If so then it is not removed. For a kit go to C90 Boulevard

You have a lean condition. Pair valve is only one solution the other is to find exhaust leaks and add a fuel processor. If interested, redeye or pdawkins, I have a fairly new Cobra fi2000r for an 05 to 07 C90, $100 shipped. Good deal bro!! Check for a PCIII first though. Under the left side faux tank cover on the front of the frame.

Take a pic, we can probably figure it out. Regardless of what brand of pipe it is most likely going to cause a lean condition, thus your popping and backfire at decel.

+1 But to me they look like speedster longs.....JUST because of the end caps. I dont remember HK having caps shaped that way...but im not sure.
