C50 Gauge

Just recently purchased a 2006 C50 Boulevard, (no owner's manual). I noticed that 2004 and 2008 C50's have gas level indicators, but not 05, 06 and 07. What gives? I guess I should rely on the trip millage. How long do I have when the light goes on till I am out of gas?

Also, what is the dial at the front brake lever? I tried to rotate it, but it won't budge.

Thanks for the help.

Hal.

First, the 07 does have a gas indicator which is basically a bar graph that is broken into 5 segment and when the last segment starts blinking it's time to get gas soon.

Second the wheel on the front brake lever that allows you to adjust the lever for comfort. By pushing the lever forward and adjusting the wheel to one of five numbers it allows you to adjust how close the actual lever is to the bars allowing for a more comfortable pull of the lever which ever feels better for you. You just have to set it to one of the 5 numbers until it feels comfortable to your hand.

To spin the numbered dial you have to push the lever outward rather than pulling it. You just have to push it a little to unlock a little cog in the dial.

The 04 is a Volusia, the 05 is the first of the C50 line. The diff. was FI, which took up space under the tank, so less fuel. The C50 also came stock with front floor boards and heel/toe shifter.

Riding style, aftermarkets items like pipes, how well the bike is taken care effect your mileage. Most of us set our tripometers when we top our tanks.
When your gas light first comes on you have a gal. left .
40-50 miles is your safety margin.
Some of us have coasted into stations when we pushed those limits.

The other factors is not filling the tank to the top due to fear of overfilling or
hot days when the gas expands a touch.

Just reset the trip. when you fill and don't try to push that 200 mile limit.

:P

I pushed to 190 miles. That was a little scarry and fun at the same time especially considering everytime I would start up the gas would flow back and there was so little gas in the tank .2 gallons that the bike would "stall" for a second until the gas would move back forward.

Hal, if you do not know what something is please ask before you try to tinker with it.

Now in my MSF class we went through the common user controls of the bike. If you had to ask this question then your class did not cover the controls in detail, or you have not taken the MSF class. If you have not taken the class, PARK THE BIKE UNTIL YOU DO.

They don't cover the brake adj lever in the MSF course as the little crap ass 250's don't have them and unless they started using Bouldvard's...

I did take the MSF course and they do not cover brake adjustment levers. By the way, you must take the course in FL in order to have a motorcycle license. I bought the Clymer repair manual and it absolutely does not mention this lever, and that is why I am ASKING about it.

It's not my first bike or the only bike I have. I was simply interested in knowing why Susuki did not include a gas level indicator in years 05 and 06. I guess it took them 2 years to figure it out with the addition of fuel injection.

Thanks for the other members for their helpfull information.

Hal, from what I found the 2006 c50 has an LCD display for fuel level and trip indicator. Am I wrong or is the trip mechanical? If LCD then you should have some "buttons" on the dash that you can change from trip A to trip B, clock, fuel level. Also the dial, chrome labeled 1,2,3,4 is an adjuster. If you push down on this then you should be able to rotate the adjuster to bring the lever closer or farther away from you grip. My C90 has these on both sides.

Yes the 2006 C50 does have LCD dispaly and you can change from trips A, B, clock and millage but not fuel level. I found it odd not to have fuel level. Nevertheless I guess trip millage is a better way to guess fuel level. Thanks for the info.

I have never seen the 06' lcd display but I would imagine it would be similar to the c90 display. Mine has a series of 5 bars for fuel. All the reviews I read on the 06' C50 said it did have an lcd fuel display. Maybe that feature is not working on your bike. Try the dealer???

My 2006 C50T does not have a fuel gauge!!!

It has a {yellow/amber} low fuel light!

On off flash with about 1gal of fuel left in tank!

Steady on with about .5 gal of fuel left in tank.
