C50 Fuel Mixture

Just bought it last week ($4995.00, It was a trade in at the local Honda dealer), has 1755 miles on it now.
It Smelled like it was running a little rich when I picked it up.
Now I have Debaffeld the pipes and it smells like a "Gas Station" when I first start it up and it blows a bit of black smoke when first started while throtteling up. After it warms up the smoke stops and the smell subsides a bit.
Other than that, it runs great.
Any ideas on how to adjust the fuel mixture or is this the nature of the beast?

Is is Carburetted? If so, that is kind of normal, my uncle has a 04' Volusia (carburetter), and it REALLY has a gas smell from the exhaust. He changed the 14K plus Sythetic oil, and it went down 50%.

They run rich for a reason, with mixing with the PAIR valve when coasting in gear to prevent back-popping and backfire. I forgot the technical reason, heck... My 07' C50T doesn't have that smell, but it's Fuel Injected. If you are FI, and it smells like that, you have two adjustments, one for idle, and I think the other is high idle? If so, that may need adjusted... Our gas here though is 10% Ethanol, so it still isn't all that bad.

PLUS, if you are FI, you do not have a choke, so they run richer at start-up, like you choked it yourself...

With that low miles, is should not be oil saturated with gas...

Dangit!..........
Now I need a front fender and touch up paint for the tank,,,
Tractor Trailer ran me off the road going around a blind corner, and he kept on going.... I have major roadrash on the left side, from my shoulder to my hip, the wife landed on top of me and was not hurt other than a small cut on her hand. Bent the left floorboard up to the frame, was able to kick it back down and drive home. Checked all vitals of the bike and all appears to be well, no leaks, nothing bent or broken, just appearence, just got back frrom a test drive, frontend is ok, brakes are ok, It acutally shifts better! It was a 15-20mph drop.

No info at all...
So it's all on me at this point.
I'm just happy we are alive and walking and the bike still runs.

Just checked out touch up paint,,, Dealers say to use "Color-Rite", So I checked their website....$33.00 per spray can...

Anyone else know of any other vendors that are not that expensive?

Ordered a new fender. Took the old one off, sanded out the scratches, and painted it with Krylon, So I can ride till the new fender arrives.
The problem is putting it back on w/o scratching it up. Do I have to take the front wheel off?, and slide it up?
