c109r filler cap

hello everyone,
one question,any one who owns a c109r ever have a problem with gas coming out of the filler cap after filling it up..my friend will fill his up but not quit to the top.the gas seems to push out of the cap...anybody have an idea what could cause this..thanks for your time..:idea:

Yup, if I try to squeeze in a little extra it almost always vents out the cap.
It is also worse when it is really warm.
Just got to stop at the bottom of the insert tube.

Yep, stop at the bottom of the tube, or else it will come out. I have had that happen before - but only once - then I learnt.

Everyone's right.
Anything above the bottom of the neck and it pisses down the side of the tank.

Is this standard with most bikes?
Are manufacturers simply not making good enough fuel caps?
I would have thought that they should seal not just sit on top of the tank.

A resounding YES.
There needs to be some air space for expansion.
There also needs to be some kind of vent to let air IN as the gas goes OUT.
They are made that way on purpose. :bluethum:

If the tank seals air tight, it will explode when you're in hot weather from the expansion of the fumes.

There has to be venting.
