Killing off Sideshow Bob, if he is indeed dead, is basically admitting the series is coming to a close. He's the only character that's been a staple villain since the show began.

That will be the most pointless guest appearance ever. I wonder if he'll call Marge the "Worst" Person In The World.

And killing Sideshow Bob? They already tried that and it didn't work.

The Ryan Leaf shot made this episode already worthwhile.

Edit: Cecil appearance!

Edit 2: Oh, I wasn't aware John Mahoney did the voice of Bob's father, heh.

Good episode and surprisingly enough this season has been constantly good.

First part reactions:

"Big Bird in China? Won't Grover get lonely? Oh, no, he's hanging out with Derek Jeter." - Moe
Heh nice callback to the Japanese commercial.
Opal the new reoccurring character
Gah this celebrity cameo is painful.
Glad that Marge plot was really, really small.

Good call, it happened.

Second part reactions:

"Yeah yeah we've all been to England, is this going somewhere?" - Bart
The Hills Have Eyes 3: The Hills Still Have Eyes :D
Ha, hair gag.
What? That's how he dies? *rubs face* Alright.

Third Part Reactions:

Wha? Everyone is angry at Bart? I agree with Bart all the way. This is insane.
Gah, gags during the funeral. Why? And Krusty singing only made it worse.
Lol, Homer gag, funniest one in a while.
Woah, almost didn't expect this, except Fox ruined the scene with commercials.
Things wrapped up too fast.
Hmm, alright, why is the kid in prison?

Alright, it was a funny episode, started out strong, almost hit a really good mark, but somehow this really didn't feel like a great episode when everything wrapped up. Nothing felt tense when Bart was in that coffin, and I knew everything was going to work out exactly how it did. And Homer really didn't need to be ridiculous when rescuing Bart. It almost ruined the scene for me.

Overall: B-

"Funeral for a Fiend" would have worked if the direction of the episode was tighter and things were directed a bit more dark. The season has been great so far, but I didn't feel this episode.

John Mahoney was kinda disappointing. =( I was hoping they'd play up the Frasier connection a little with that one. With having him hate Francesca and being kinda indifferent towards Bob's choices...

Still, not a bad episode. Kinda reminded me of a lot of Sideshow Bob's other episodes. The one with Selma mostly.

Ditto.

I'd kind of half-expected Sideshow Bob had engineered things so that, with his "death," Bart's life would be ruined if not ended.

bart kills side show bob
After dreaming that Keith Olbermann makes fun of her for fast forwarding through TV ads, Marge becomes fascinated with watching commercials, influencing the family to visit a rib restaurant after hearing about it in an ad. This, however, is a plot from Sideshow Bob so that he can get his revenge against the Simpsons for ages of their constant meddling. The plan nearly succeeds, but Bob is caught and put on trial where his father blames Sideshow Bob's psychosis on Bart. After Bart mistakes Bob's heart medication for an explosive, he collapses, and is pronounced dead.

During Bob's funeral, the Simpsons all show little remorse for Bob despite Krusty and much of Springfield grieving. After Bart speaks to Bob's brother Cecil, he goes to the funeral parlor to make peace with Bob's corpse. However, Lisa discovers his death was an elaborate plot put together by Bob's entire family. They race to the parlor and narrowly save Bart from being incinerated, after which Bob and his entire family are arrested and placed in jail, with Bob himself laughing maniacally in a straightjacket.

im watchin it should be good

I don't think Opal's really that bad, whenever she appears she's at least humorous, even if she is a parody character.

And yeah they reeallly didn't need that plot at all, The Simpsons really could have just been watching TV and that commercial could have came on during Itchy and Scratchy instead of wasting 7 minutes on a TiVo thing that Family Guy already beat them to.
