STAN SMITH FIGHTS FOR CHRISTMAS RIGHTEOUSNESS ON AN ALL-NEW ?AMERICAN DAD? SUNDAY, DECEMBER 16, ON FOX
After Stan comes home from another dangerous mission, he finds that his family has decked the halls with boughs of holly and donned themselves with gay apparel, but just not to his satisfaction. He demands a grander Christmas starting with the search of a bigger and better tree in the forest. When his family has had enough, Stan powers on by himself, finds the perfect tree and meets an untimely end. While in Limbo, he has to fight for a second chance at life and battle the forces of good and evil to save his family on the ?The Most Adequate Christmas Ever? episode of AMERICAN DAD Sunday,

i think this was one of the best eps. of the season....the jim henson gag had me dying....this was almost good enough for a 'heaven' spinoff series.

definitely one of the best AD episodes, the whole episode was very enjoyable. It was also a great christmas special and a great take on "heaven".

For those who either didn't catch it or never listened to the DVD commentary for the first Christmas episode, that was the same "Michelle" who was the Ghost of Christmas Past last year. That was my favorite episode and I've been looking forward to the sequel ever since.

I was hoping she'd be the Ghost again; I don't see why she had to be someone different (and with a brown hair dye).

Yes; Lisa Kudrow was unwilling to voice her a second time (she was almost unwilling to voice her a first time; she had her name taken off the credits for Michelle's first episode).

Firstly... I have to say, Michelle sort of looked like the 1980's animated version of April O'Neal. I don't know why, but she really looked like it.

Anyway, Loved that weird thing about Jim and Kermit trapped in a Superman 2 prison square. Don't understand why, but a pretty funny thing.

But I have to say, leave it to American Dad to have a Christmas episode that truely deviates from the norm. Even the Family Guy special freakin' Christmas was normal compared to this series. In the first one, Stan has to make sure Reagan gets shot, and in this one, he tries to kill God himself. Wow. Now that's definately not Family Guy ish.

Episodes like this actually depress me that American Dad doesn't get the press or attention that Family Guy does. I mean, a truely bizzarre plot line such as this has to make the show seriously underrated.

I will point out one thing. Didn't the kid in the Charlie Brown Special from the 80's have Leukimia? Not AIDS? I remember seeing it, and the girl lost her hair.

But still, One of the best episodes out of the series so far.

Oddly enough, it's most similar to a Simpsons episode: "Thank God It's Doomsday". In the third act of that one, Homer goes to Heaven (or has a vision of going to Heaven, it's never made clear) in the rapture while his family is condemned to stay on Earth, and Homer starts wreaking havoc in Heaven in order to try to get his family back. He ends up convincing God to delay the apocalypse for a while so he can be with his family. Of course, in the case of the Simpsons episode, this was all haphazardly crammed into one act and it was resolved pretty poorly without Homer learning a real lesson, ruining what could have been a standout episode. Overall I'd say AD wins this one.

"I can't say 'we agree,' that's how I lost my first ten cases."

Can't say I remember Michelle from the first AD christmas episode last year, but this was still a pretty amusing episode. From the 'Lion King' birth of Hayley to the Heaven guns (which was a laugh riot after Stan was told the Earth guns don't work up there) and everything in-between, there was lots of good fun here.

"The Most Adequate Christmas Ever": 3.5/5.

D'oh! I didn't realize it. Now I want to go back and watch that episode.

I like how this episode didn't pull its punches. We got a unique take on Heaven (I liked the angel getting cuter every time he wins a case, and I liked the depiction of God...JC, not so much). My favorite part was Michelle's argument for Stan being a humble guy turned out to be a dream (and afterwards when he yelled at Steve and knocked over that thing in his room).

I didn't think they were going to send Stan all the way back to the beginning of the episode. They could've showed something like Klaus dying while the family was being frozen (not that I don't like Klaus, but it didn't look like he was going to last very long).

I have to say this fairs better then the first Christmas special. It does have the same element of fantasy usually not played with as much in American Dad (in this case showing how heaven, hell and purgatory works, and the ideas of how second chances and god would operate in AD's universe) and Stan learning a good Yueltide lesson, but it had a tighter pace. Not to mention it didn't have a sort of worthless Roger plotline or bringing in Francinne into the plot for no reason so it dosen't loose points for that. It does sort of borrow the idea from Family Guy "Death Lives" with the whole cheating death thing (though done differently since there it was near death and here it's second live). Also a lot of parts with Michelle in the courtroom were kind of try (and the "roll the rest of the clip" is directly a Fairly Oddparents joke so yeah way to rip off that American Dad). There were some good scenes though: Klaus commenting on how they did more in Auscshitz then you'd first think of, Stan berating the family and even the choices of tree, "that's what it sound like if I fell farther down" (one of the better screw you jokes I've seen actually), cute equalling greatness in court for heaven, one person questioning why they have a heaven gun, J.C's birthday party (though that's oddly enough stolen from a webtoon that did a similar party jesus character, evil josh and billy. Well concidental since I doubt Seth and co even know of that show's existance), Stan confroting God (with a more normal soudning Seth MacFarlnae voice then normal) and the ending with Roger pointint out Michelle watchign the family. Some good stuff in a pretty good special but if they have more I hope it's more then just stan learning a holiday lesson and has more holiday fun and what not to enjoy.
