Buying a Toyota With Over 100,000 Miles Yes or No?

Just Do It

I found a really nice 2004 Matrix XR for sale ($6,000) but the car has 100,567 miles on it. Do you think the mileage is too high or does the mileage not matter as much since it's a Toyota? Also, if I perform regular maintenance, how many more years/miles can I expect out of this car?

p.s. I'd like to talk the $6k dealer price down. How much should I tell them is the max I am willing to pay for the car? The car looks like it's in great shape and when I put the car into KBB the value was listed at $9k. The dealer started the price off pretty high and has been slowly lowering the price down every month so I think now might be a good time to go for it. What do you think?

~~Best answer gets the 10 points thanks~~!!

$6,000 is a STEAL. I have a 1998 Camry with 170,000 and it runs fine, if that helps your decision. The mileage is absolutely not high, not for a Toyota anyway. With regular maintenance you can expect, realistically, 250,000-300,000 miles with approx. $1,000 in repairs until that mileage. occurs. (Assuming you drive it with respect). Dealers are desperate right now, and I think any offer is a good offer. Don't wait for the price to get too low because someone else might get it, just make an offer of what you're waiting on the price to be. Think of it this way, the car's worth 9 G's KBB.... When you're done with it, it will be worth what you paid for it.
