I'm going to be in HK shortly and I'm planning to buy a new phone. From what I've heard, the prices are slightly lower with the recent strong CDN dollars, but will have to see when I get there.
I'm wondering if there is anything I need to be aware of in terms of buying the phone there. I plan to buy it from the big stores (Fortress, Broadway) since I'm scared of "water product" (should I ask anyway even if I do buy it there?). I'm asking because I'm afraid of issues such as firmware (if I buy the phone in Asia, can I get firmware upgrade after I bring it back to Canada etc), warranty and any other issue.
Other than that, I'm looking at a phone no more than $500 or so Cdn, so phones like W900i, Nokia 8801 probably isn't an option. I'm considering the W810i, but I don't really need a mp3 phone since I already use a Creative Zen Vision:M. I considered the K800 but it seems like it won't be out yet when I'm there. I'm mainly looking for a phone (ideally quad band) which has excellent reception with a decent camera. I'm not that picky about style.
I guess thats it.
