Buying a Nintendo DS - What 'flash card' should I get?

I'm buying my first Nintendo DS (used), might be a 'lite' or 'fat', I don't know yet (depends whats the best deal I can get on a used one). Then I want to get a 'flash card' to play backups. I know nothing about these, I've seen mention of R4 and R4i and Gold R4i and TopToy and AceKard - I have NO IDEA what's the difference or what I need! Can someone help?

Also I'd like to be able to browse the web via wifi, if that matters.
