I'm looking at replacing a failing '92 Celica with a new car. I've been researching various makers for a little while and I've come up with several options. Unfortunately none of them are truly 'perfect' and I'm looking for ideas and supporting arguments. I want something sporty with good acceleration, handling, etc, that looks the part as well. I have a max price range of $30k-32k. It's going to be used primarily for daily commutes.

The list so far:
1. Mazda Miata - I really like small cars and I've driven a Miata already. It's a kick and my only complaint is that the passenger weight is a mere 380 pounds.

2. Mazda RX-8 - It's bigger than the Miata which is a plus. It's sporty and a four passenger which alleviates the Miata's issue. However I also understand the rotary engine needs a LOT of care and it's not particularly reliable.

3. Nissan 370Z coupe - Right mix of size and power but it's the upper limit of my price range. The 370 is definitely what I want but lots of dealerships seem to be overpricing it.

4. Chevy Camaro - The only model I'd be interested in is the 2SS, however that places it at the outside of my price range as well so I'd just get the 370Z. It's also untested and could potentially have problems down the road. (No pun intended.) As it's a GM vehicle is repairable status could also be in question.

Exclusions; vehicles for whatever reason aren't practical or are I just don't want:

1. Lotus Elise - While it fits the bill, I'd be concerned about it being stolen and I'm sure the insurance would be somewhere between unreasonable and insane. It also has very few amenities.
2. Honda S3000 - No A/C and too expensive to get it.
3. Ford Mustang - My wife wants one and I don't want the same car.
4. Infinity G37 coupe - Likely too expensive.
5. BMW Z4 - Would have to be used to get it within my price range. I would really like a NEW car.

I'm open to other suggestions as well because I haven't found the 'perfect' car. Can anyone provide a good defense for one of my options to counter my issues with those cars? I'd appreciate the help.
