Buying a new car, HELP!!!?

Going to buy a new car, dont want to spend over 10k. Putting down 5k downpayment. Any tips or advise on buy a good quality used car and not getting screwed over buy the shady salesmans? 10 points for the best advise.
 
Any good Nissan Sentra is a good choice. They are plentiful used depending on where you live. I suggest you do some internet shopping. If you see any car advertised at one price, make sure they sell it to you for that price. I assure you that if don't know what a car should sell for & just blindly walk into a dealership, they have the advantage there. They are out to make a profit & business is business. But you need to take a hard look at what you need vs. what you want. the advice for buying a used car is endless, so in the end it really is your responsibility to make sure you don't get screwed. Any used car should be inspected. Plenty of crap out there. Also, many used cars are sold as is. Be sure you know their return policies if you get a lemon. Anything not in writing doesn't exist as far as the contracts go.
 
You won't get screwed if you know what you're doing. Become an informed educated consumer.

My best advice to you is to save yourself a lot of headaches and pay cash for a $5000 and forget the loan. The difference in a $5000 car and a $10,000 car isn't double.

Shop around, try to avoid used car lots (there are a lot of rip offs in that price range) and shop the classifieds for an individual selling their old car.

You can get a great used car for $5000 and you'll save yourself at least $250 a month for 3 or 4 years. That's a lot of money in your pocket not the bank's.
 
ok listen no matter what ask if you can test drive the car and pay close attention when you driving it, to see if it runs smoothly. Then check the engine to see if there is any oil leaks that will affect the cars performance...Make sure you check all the electronics in it too, just to be sure that the windows and everything works... one more thing is that you NEED to make sure the transmission throws the gears smoothly (if the car is automatic) if its 5 speed then just make sure the transmission do not make some weird noise when you put the gear in...
