Buying a Laptop, need suggestions?

I am buying a laptop for college in the fall. Here is a list of things I will be using it for.

- Internet
- Music
- Movies
- Word Processing, Spreadsheets, etc.
- Burning CDs/DVDs
- Other School Related Things

Price Range - between $500 to $1300

I prefer a higher battery life than norm, but its not required. I won't be using it much for games, I prefer desktop for that.
 
Either a Dell laptop or a Macbook, depending on which you like better. BOTH are high quality, don't let Apple fanboys tell you otherwise.
