What does everyone think? Do you think they can be treated really differently?
I've heard this can be quite an issue, particularly within the LBGT community and with bi guys such as myself as well. Sometimes a guy who is naturally more masculine but happens to be attracted to guys may be seen as actually keeping it real whilst also being a "typical" guy, but a more feminine, camp gay may be seen as simply being themself as doesn't have to try to be anything else or have the label "straight-acting". I've also heard some more flamboyant gay guys say that they feel some masculine gay guys are putting on an act to seem manly and fit more into society. I think with bisexual guys as well; if a bisexual guy is quite girly and fem then they could be seen as actually a closet gay guy but doesn't want to come fully out - i.e the "bi today, gay tomorrow" saying. But a bi guy kinda like me, who is more into women and doesn't have much experience with guys but still considers themself a typical guy may be seen as also putting on a front, being confused, or even saying I am one thing to seem more interesting.
Personally it is something I struggle with. I must admit that I don't fully understand guys who act feminine and camp and feel it invites labels, but at the same time appreciate we are all different. I believe sexuality is not a choice but how you go about things and behave is, to a certain extent. I do think it can be hard for gay or bi guys when a lot of what you seen in the media and out on the town of that minority is the general stereotype. But at the same time, some people are just a certain way, and there are straight guys who are quite girly and camp as well.
I know it's not a huge hot topic but I thought it'd be interesting to hear feedback.
