I would like to know if anyone has tried buspar? If so, any side effects? Does it cause weight gained? Thanks for any in put on this medication.

I have never taken buspar so I am not really of any help. Just felt like saying hello and hope someone replies soon. The board seems a little slow this weeked.

I have been taking Buspar for a few years and it does NOT cause any weight gain. In fact, it is known for having no side effects! It's wonderful! The one and only side effect is that I (and most everyone who takes it from what I hear) feel a bit naseous right after I take it, but it only lasts a couple of minutes. I can handle that considering it has no other side effects! I have only good things to say about buspar. Feel free to ask me anything.

SSRIs DO take 8 weeks to work sometimes, but Buspar does not take that long. I'd say a week at the most. I take 10mg in the morning and another 10mg at night.

Been on 7.5mg Buspar twice a day. Absolutely love it. No side effects after the first week. Completely non-addictive so if you miss a dose (due to forgetfulness) your body won't miss it either. Plus, if you're having a really bad day you can take a bit extra.

Love it, love it, love it.

I take the 15mg divide a dose 3 times a day. It took about a month to take full effect. I still need klonopin at night. No weight gain. This has been a life saver for me. The best $5 I ever spent.

Right now I'm still a little anxious. I called the doctor she said it takes a while to work. I've been on it about a month. Does it really take about eight weeks to really start kicking in? I'm on 5mg twice a day. Do you mind me asking how many mg are you taking? Hopefully it'll start working soon. Later if she decides to raised my doseage, will I have to go through the same thing?

You're on a super low dose. I've researched this med a lot and in all the medical literature available the "therapeutic" dose is listed at 20mg at the very minimum. I know all people are different, but unless your're under 100 pounRAB it seems like there's some confusion re. dosing on your doc's part. (From what I've read people are generally started on 2 doses of 7.5, then moved up in 5mg increments as needed.) Best of luck.

I am only 112 pounRAB. I feel like I could use more (Because of my thyroid medication) and am going to ask the doc next appointment. He also started Lamictal and thinks my need for the buspar will decrease by adding this. So far it has not. Still feel like I need more buspar.

Even thought it is not long lasting, I really like the buspar because I have no side effects. Everything else bothers my vision (I am older).
