I have just started a new job and am dealing with corporate to set up my company laptop (Lenovo T61) onto a data plan as well as get a corporate cell phone. I will be working domestic U.S. only and do not need international service.
My boss said "get a Verizon aircard and a cell phone. If a Blackberry isn't much more in cost, get a Blackberry".
I spoke with the corporate cell phone person who sent info on both ATT and Verizon. She advised that very few people are using the ATT Blackberry tethered to the PC but that for those who are, there's been no complaints.
In the literature she sent on Verizon, there's no reference to a "tethered" Blackberry.
So I'd like to hear given I've got something of a blank slate what would you go with? Is the tethered Blackberry with Verizon a decent option or am I going out on a limb and should just stick with an aircard for the PC and a seperate cell. If I had a lot of troble with the tethered Blackberry, I'm sure my boss would not be happy given he spoke of the aircard.
As for Lotus Notes e-mail with the Blackberry, corporate sets all this up through the servers so pass through is not a problem.
I know this is a general type question, but I would appreciate some high level type guidance for those who have done that been there of late.
