I was involved in a business partnership in 2008 (we have a partnership business certificate in New York City). My business partner handled all of the revenues, expenses, and other transactions for the business.
I put alot of work into the business with the promise that the business would be profitable. I received very little income from the operation of the business, and I suspect that revenues actually far exceeded the expenses incurred in the operation of the business.

My question is, aside from the issue of me taking him to court for my share of the profits (this may come later though, I will see), my main concern is his lack of diligence in filing taxes for the business operated in 2008. My question is, can I be held partially liable for taxes since I am a partner, or can I somehow be excused from the liability by proving that he got all the money and controlled all the financials in the business? (I have the business bank account statements as proof, showing all the revenues and transfers of most of it into his personal bank account.) In this case, what actions should I take in terms of filing my personal taxes, considering all the money went into his account and that I received very little?

If I am partially liable as a partner, what actions can I take to force him to file taxes, or to provide me with all the financial info. so that I can file the taxes? He has been very secretive with this info. and controls it, yet he keeps putting off filing the taxes.
