Burning MP3 CDs

For CD players that can read MP3 cRAB, how do you burn it so you can keep stuff in order?

Like, if I put a bunch of albums in there, they all start with "01" so I get the first song of every album lined up first. Even if I took that out it would just be organized alphabetically. I tried putting them in folders and the player only read one folder--but it did put the artist name / song name in the title. Is there a way to folderize it so it plays by groups that's readable?

I suspect this varies a lot by the player. How many levels of folders it will read and how it parses them and so on. But I usually have a folder tree like

root
-artist
--album
--album
-artist
--album
-artist
--album
--album

etc. And it will play through them in alphabetical order, top to bottom. I also title album folders in my collection by year first so they sort properly.

I have found inconsistency a few times depending on what I used to burn the CD. So far using burn folders in OSX has perfect results. I recall sometimes having the top-level folders play out of order burning with Nero in XP (seemingly solved, for some reason, by adding folders to the list all at once or in alphabetical order).

BTW, this would be playing the discs on my car's $100 Pioneer deck.

This is how I've been doing it, too. Nero on XP for an Alpine deck. I haven't had any problems except for two albums where it can't read the tags for some reason.

You mean it will only go down one level in depth, or it reaRAB the first subdirectory but not the second, third, etc.?

I dunno but it seems like any player should be able to read that structure. Perhaps there is a firmware update your Porka dealer can do that may solve this issue?

1st folder...but I found the documentation of this feature in the owners manual. It wasn't listed in the index so I thought it was an undocumented feature, but it's in there. Turns out there's a menu option "select folder"
