My left leg burns from the top to my knee, seem to be just on the outside of my leg. Feels like someone poured boiling water on it. It don't do it all the time just when I stan or walk very far.My back does not hurt, could this be my back doing this? I'm 63 and over weight

This very well could be from your back. I suggest that you make an appt with your doctor and let him know what is going on. Hopefully, he will order an MRI or send you to a back specialist to have one done.

Have you ever noticed that if you lean on something....bending over a bit, the pain lets up? If so, it could be that you are developing stenosis. I'm not a dr. and I'm not trying to diagnose you, but I do think a check up should be done. If you have any kind of spinal problem, a plain x-ray won't show anything unles you have a disc that is almost gone.

Please let us know what you find out.

It does sound like sciatic type pain. The sciatic nerve can be impinged in the spine and this can cause nerve pain partially or fully down the leg.

You definitely should get a CT scan or MRI done because it does sound like something is going on. Like the previous poster said we are not doctors but there are so many of us here that have had either the same problems or different that might be able to help you. Just to let you know we are here for you and let us know what you end up doing.

Take care

Yes, it definitely could be your back. Mine burns down by my ankle. I am working with the physical therapist to find a comfortable position to lay down to get rid of it. If you ice your back at the fusion site that will also help. I would also take shorter walks a couple of times a day rather than one long walk. When I first started walking after surgery, I literally counted driveways. Getting to the 2nd driveway - yes that is 2 houses twice day day was an accomplishment.:)

DEFINITELY check out "Meralgia Paresthetica." It is pain and/or burning/sometimes nurabness on the outside of the thigh - from hip to knee. One of the causes is being overweight. You don't hear much about this, but I think you will find it helpful.

Bluediamond,

Please do not bump threaRAB. Your bump thread has been deleted. Sometimes it takes a couple of days before individuals are able to post. You need to be patient.

Thank you.
