Building a new computer this summer?

So I'm going to be a college freshman this fall and I've decided that instead of asking my parents to buy me a new computer I'll build it myself. I'd be very thankful if I could have some comments here. I'll mostly be using the computer for college related work, gaming and maybe a little video editing here.

I'm not looking to run Crysis on high or anything, I just want to be able to comfortable game for the next few years
