okay so heres what i got so far:
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core Processor 5000+ "black edition" at 2.6 GHz 1mb L2 cache

four 1 GHz DIMMS OCZ DDR2 (total of 4GHz RAM)
ASUS M2N32-SLIdeluxe mobo
Nvidia e-GeForce 9600 GT super-overclocked edition
Triton 70 cpu fan spinning at 2300rpms about 22dBa
The Smilodon case with a 500watt power supply
one dvd multi-media cdrom drive
two barracuda 160G hard drives at 7,500 rpms

im probably going to set up the hd's and mirror them with RAID

Am i missing somthing? and how is it so far? what do you thinnk?
oops im meant i did get a pack 2 ghs dual channel RAM, my mistake. and by the way mi deng i do mirrored because
im to lazy to back up everything on the external and if one hd craps out on me and lose my saved games i would get pissed :P
and i got the 5000+ black edition cause its completely unlocked for overcloaking.
i heard people even got then up to 3.0Ghz!

Don't get 4 separate 1GB rams... Get (2) 2GB dual channel ram. These come in a package of 2 sticks (1GB each stick) but this is not the same as buying (4) 1GB sticks - that would be very noobie!!

The specs make a decent gaming PC. Also don't mirror your hard drive. Most gamers use raid 0 (stripping) for increased performance. Most people use mirroring for servers and backing up important data. The average user or gamer can just backup store their personal data on an external hdd or dvds because if you use a mirror raid, you already lost half the storage and there is no performance boost from the raid at all.

To add in... make sure the motherboard your buying(didn't list one" has a pci express 2.0 x16 because 9 series video cards need it(or maybe not)

not bad I think it will look good and not missing anything well have a good LCD moniter to go extreme get 3 : ) looks ub3r sweet

I personally would go with a 5200 Windsor with 2mb L2 cashe. It still runs on the 89W but gives you the extra umph in the L2 dept... They had them on ebay last week for $109 shipped.
I am using SapphaireATI 3870 512mb for $190 on newegg, the 3870 gets better everything than the 9600 and is rated just under the 8800 cards. Hint: any of the nvidia cards with a 6600 7600 8600 9600 are the mid grades. 7800 8800 9800 are top of the line, for that certian model... Like 8500's are crap, but you see them in every Dell Gateway Compact emachine advertisement, why because they are highway robbery in action... Tiger direct is the cheapest place that has them right now...
