building a 350 chevy engine?

i bought it from a friend that says it is bored 30 over with a towing cam about 2000 miles ago ..i over reved it for too long and melted the rod sleeves to the crank..can i put a 400 crank and rod sleeves i have and put it back together.?.buy the way it did over heat and lock up..and also will the same pete jackson gear drive work in it ?..since i already have in the engine that froze up
 
There is more to building a 383 small block then just sticking a 400 crank in a 350. The first thing is balancing. The 400 is externally balanced and uses a special dampener and flex plate. Also rod length is differant from the 350 to 400. There are kits available to build a 383. Do some homework before you make any decisions.
