buggered my 3gs

Ermmm..... i was a tad intoxicated earlier and tried this http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/f456/how-jailbreak-ios-4-iphone-3gs-jailbroken-spirit-pwnagetool-sn0wbreez-1038981/ not realizing that this was for OLD boot.... my phone is NEW boot!!!!

Now the problem i am now faced with is my phone seems to have gone into DFU (i think - screen is blank) and I cant get it out of it!!!

Can anyone help me out cos Im stuck!!! I dont know how to restore to 3.1.3 so tried clicking on restore and install 4.0 but i get error 28?

My phone is 3.1.3 with spirit JB and new bootrom I also have shsh for 3.1.3 stored on cydia

have you tried using RecBoot? Puts it in and out of recovery mode, might work for you!?
 
can you turn off the phone?

Try to go manually in recovery mode

1)Open Itunes
2)Connect the Iphone usb to the laptop/pc>>but don't connect to the iphone
3)when the iphone is switched off, press the home button and connect it to the usb
It should go on recovery mode and if it does then try to restore the firmware

else

1)connect phone to itunes(it doesnt matter if is connected,just plug the usb in)
2)turn it off
3)press home button and power on button for 10 seconds then release the power on button but keep pressing the home button,your itunes should recognise the itunes in dfu./recovery mode and the screen should be blank(black colour), as soon as itunes recognises your phone and asks you to restore it ,RELEASE the home button.
 
It wont switch off... not that I can tell anyway.. Have tried holding the home/power button but it still doesnt change....
When its connected to pc it automatically comes up with the "recovery mode" message everytime
If i try holding the home/power buttons while connected to itunes it makes the disconnected sound and then connects again within seconds...
 
It should turn off, there isnt much difference but you'll see the the screen less bright when is switched off.
does any kind of logo appear on the phone screen or completaly blank?
try to switch off in this way
hold home button and while pressing home button press switch off button...it should switch off
 
the screen is completely blank... Cant see any change in screen brightness when trying to switch off.
just tried that and it dont seem to be making any difference...
 
if as your stating the phone does not switch off then you better wait for someone more expert to give you some advice.
in the mean time you can try ireb and try to fix the recovery loop, what ireb does is sending some commands that restarts the phone,if these commands are received by the phone then it might start working.

else wait for the battery to go dead.
 
Open the phone and take out the motherboard for some time(2minutes) then put it back and on it.

P.S. : If phone have a garantie it will break it doing this.

I managed to get it sorted... I got it restored back to 3.1.3

I let the battery run down and started again and I also figuered out how restore it using the shsh stored on sauriks server by editing the host file but took a while because I didnt realise that if you put a # in front of the server ip (like the rest of the entries have) that it would bypass sauriks server and go straight to apple...

I saw some posts somewhere that had the # there so thought that was right and then came across a post that said that the # should not be there...

But all sorted again now and re jailbroken with spirit so all is good lol

Thank you all for all the time, info and help you gave up for me.

The lesson I learned is NEVER try and update after a few beers!!!
