Buffy creator's new film -- early screening

Hee. I wouldn't really call myself an internet street team - I just want people to actually realise what this film is about. So far the only recent topics here have been about Firefly in the Sci-Fi forum - this is a film with broad appeal which I suspect some people here won't realise as it's hidden under Sci-Fi.

But it IS Joss Whedon's new film, heh.

In fairness, Buffy was one of BBC2's highest ratings shows - in fact it WAS their highest rating show for many years. You might not like Buffy, but about 6 million people in the UK tuned into it every week, and if even a fraction of those people turn out to the movie, it'll be a huge hit.

It was either that or "From the creator of Firefly, the show nobody watched!" or "From the writer of Alien Resurrection". :p

Yea i can see where your coming from but i still don't like it ;) :p

Plus i can't make the showing as i will be at a wedding in Greece :(

I am sure it was done just to piss me off :D :(

i am in West Yorkshire and when i saw that LeeRAB Showcase was one of the screenings i jumped with joy, they i saw it said the 20th and i was gutted.

Gutted is a nice word, Showcase in LeeRAB never have screenings on Tuesdays and i mean never, i goto most of them and there is a regular crowd that go, i am not sure if they will find out about it being on Tuesday and not Thursday.

Yes it's out nationwide on October 7th, these are advanced screenings for press and devout, pyschotic fans who can't contain themselves and have to go early like me!!!

Hope this helps

Think I might watch the entire Firefly series again, in preperation. Whedon is a genius tbh, and his casting and direction are just brilliant.

It's a good movie - exciting, funny and scary. The characters and dialogue are just as interesting as the (very good) special effects for a change, which is something we haven't really seen in a sci-fi blockbuster since Star Wars ep 4-6.
The basic plot is not disimilar to a Buffy or Angel season finale (the gang must unite to defeat a big bad against the odRAB - here represented by a mean sword-wielding Brit) but it really kicks into gear in the final third and trancenRAB its TV roots. Sort of a cross between Star Wars, the Dawn of Dead remake and, in places, Kill Bill.

I agree that's it's an excellent film and would highly recommend anyone to go see it when it comes out on 7th Oct, or if you'd like to see it beforehand look at cantstopthesignal.co.uk tomorrow when most of the second round of prescreenings will go onsale - I'm going to try and get to the Liverpool one :)

I am going to the Cardiff screening on the 20th and I cant wait to see Serenity now. I am so excited and just hope it lives up to my expectations!
I went to see The Man yesterday which was rubbish but they had the trailer for Serenity before it. Even though I have seen this trailer loaRAB of times before it was great to finally see the trailer on the big screen!
