Either way, and with all due respect, I've heard that before. Jim Davis was invloved with the (live-action w/ CGI) Garfield movie, and look how that turned out.
I honestly don't mean to sound like a wiseacre, but just because the original creator is involved, doesn't mean it will be that good. Don't get the wrong idea though, if this new movie is indeed confirmed, I'll give it a chance, but in the end "talk is cheap" as they say (that, and "actions speak louder than words"). The
"Cue Cullen" trope by itself is useless without an actual good movie to back it up.
For these reasons among others, if this movie is indeed being made, I just hope that it will be faithful to not just the letter, but also the spirit of the original source material (maybe even with a few elements from the TV show). I also hope that the original creator isn't willing to compromise his original artisitc integrity (adapt? maybe, but not compromise) just to get the movie to be made. In other words, I hope that "both parties" can come to some kind of agreement that takes both of them into consideration (i.e., without the whole "my way or the highway" thing). Maybe then the movie would stand some kind of a chance of being decent in both the short term and the long term.
In short, I hope it will actually be "Bucky O'Hare", and not a generic sci-fi adventure film with "recognizable characters". The industry may or may not know this, but there is a difference.
