Brush Size in Flash CS4 won't change?

There is no black circle when click to change the size of the brush? IT won't let me do anything in the properties bar either. I am using the Trial version, but how do i make it so i can change the brush sizes? I've been using flash for the past 10 weeks so i know it's not there.
