bruising that lasts for a LONG time

During Black Friday shopping (the day after Thanksgiving), I got a bruise on the side of my shin, just under my knee.

The bruise still exists ... 2 months later.

It is clearly better. Much lighter, not as tender. But still, shouldn't it be totally healed by now? It wasn't an overly deep injury (I just bumped/slid into a clothing shelf).

Any ideas???

*I was having a few other random "symptoms" and got a wide array of blood tests for Lupus ... all were negative.

*Also, I am a vegetarian ... is it possible that I'm not getting enough iron? And could not enough iron really cause a bruise to stick around for 2+ months?

Any and all suggestions/ideas are welcome!

Sounds like you got a bad hematoma, an injury that caused a collection of blood. Unfortunately it does take a very long time for the body to reabsorb all the blood, at least a month for a moderate one. So, since you have had it two months it sounds like it was a pretty significant hematoma when you got it, possibly deeper than you realized? Have you noticed easy bleeding/bruising elsewhere? If not, I wouldn't worry about it too much since it has been showing improvement.
