I have a Palm TX. I'd like to access my music files on my network desktop upstairs. I can successfully browse my media files, but only can select 1 song at a time. What suggestions to get the music via WIFI?
Try WiFileLT, Wireless Network software. I think it is installable from your CD that came with the T|X (not pre installed). On opening WiFileLT you are asked which of any Workgroups you want to join, and then it will list the computers available, similar to Windows Explorer. Select the computer and then a list pops up of drives and folders shared that are available on the machine.
Unfortunately, I couldn't find any documentation on the utility from Palm, but it is rather intutive and easy to use. If you want the Pro version, go here.
quite true, it works fairly well, BUT you literally have to 'download' the files to your palm. It would be better if there was an option to stream or listen to the music as you download it. so if you've downloaded 50% of the song, you can listen to 50% of it.
I read this in the Palm Info Center but I have not tried it since I don't have the Deluxe version....yet.
Quote: The Pocket Tunes service for Palm OS will allow users to browse their music collections and playlists stored on any home computer. The selected music can be streamed to any Palm Powered smart mobile devices via WiFi hotspots or mobile data services.
Gotta get through Christmas first before I have any extra $$ to spend on additional software. Wah-wah-wah
There is also some software out there that allows you to set up a streaming server on your PC that you access through a WEB page in Blazer, but I'm not sure you want to get that complicated. Look for one called xDenSer, a freeware HTTP server.
