Hi all, back on Halloween, I caught a cold from a party, lots of kiRAB and all that. It started to go away in about a week or so but the cough lingered. Last week, about 3 weeks after Halloween, I went to another party and came back with a nasty case of what I believe to be Bronchitis. Now, I can't stop coughing and it's driving me insane. I have 6 leftover Prednisone 20mg from adverse reactions to an experimental flu shot in Dec 2008. The Prednisone expired in Dec 2009. I was wondering on people's educated opinions on whether taking these 6 Prednisone might keep me from the local Emergicare which will be extremely difficult for me to afford at the moment. I've tried Mucinex DM Max Strength, DayQuil and Pseudoephedrine which all work to varying degrees. I really need to knock this out! Thanks!

Thanks Titchou, but I don't think either of those are enough to cure the bronchitis. I originally took Mucinex DM and not Delsym to help get the crud out of my lungs more efficiently.

Any second opinions? I still don't feel any better and Urgacare wants anywhere from 100-500 dollars upfront which I simply cannot afford. Thanks.

If it's truly bronchitis then it's going to take an antibiotic. The others were just suggestions in case it's just a chest cold.

But that's why I'm asking if anyone things that the Predisone will help with bronchitis, given it is still effective enough. I've started taking it and today was a pretty good day so perhaps it's helping? Either that or I'm naturally getting better of course.

It takes at least a couple of days for the prednisone to begin working so it's more likely that you are simply getting better.
